When I first tried meditation I was overwhelmed, confused, and frustrated.  I had so many questions and I am so thankful for the many wonderful teachers I had who helped me along the way.  The most important peace of information I can pass along is that meditation looks different for EVERYONE.  Some people will receive the same benefits of meditation spending time in their garden or walking through the woods. Some people meditate while running or painting or even coloring.  As I understand it, meditation is the practice of quieting my mind SO THAT I can connect to my higher power.  It is the art of stilling myself, and it has extraordinary benefits.

Reiki is a form of alternative medicine developed in 1922 by Japanese Buddhist Mikao Usui. Since originating in Japan, reiki has been adapted into varying cultural traditions across the world.  I learned Reiki two years ago as a healing technique based on the principle that the therapist can channel energy into the patient by means of touch, to activate the natural healing processes of the patient's body and restore physical and emotional well-being.​  I first came across this ancient healing technique when I was trained as Pilates Instructor more than 20 years ago.  My teacher, Patrick O'Brien, was a Reiki and Rolfing practitioner and incorporated many of the qualities into our sessions.  Perhaps that is why it felt so different.  Being a niece 20 something I had no clue the magnitude of what was going on in our training. Patrick was working on all of us all the time.  And through him we were all feeling the blessings.  Sometimes as a group, sometimes individually.  But our lives were changing, there was no doubt about it.  

I finally went for my first Reiki session when I was 35 and I was blown away.  I can't explain in words the emotional release I felt when my teacher worked on me as I laid still in the dreamlike state for what seemed like 5 minutes (was actually more like 90 minutes).. The entire body felt lighter.  Like I had dropped 20 pounds of emotional baggage I had been carrying around from before I was even born.  After about 6 sessions, I knew this was something I wanted to share with my clients.  Reiki was another form of prayer, of connection to the divine.  And it was powerful. I'd love to work on with you if it calls to you. 

Sessions are 1 hour long.  Each session begins with a brief meditation and coaching session to set an intention for the energy work.  I may use a stack of tarot cards, prayers, various earth elements, essential oils, and very light massage or touch throughout the session depending on what the client is comfortable with.

Reformer Workout

Although yoga classes have grown in popularity over the years, some individuals ma find that private lessons are more appealing. Unlike basic classes, private lessons are one on one experience with an instructor.  Private lessons can bring about improvements to one's mental and physical health and help one achieve personal yoga goals.

Pilates isn't just core work.  It's the CORE work.  Its a perfect sequence of exercises that helps strengthen and lengthen the spine.  Its your body and your breath coming together as one to create a union within yourself.  Its meditation in motion.  Its stretching, its working, its building, its holding.  Its challenging your body with the most subtle types of movement imagined.  Pilates is humbling.  Pilates is the beginning of every movement you need to make.  It will make you strong, connected, and energized.  It will introduce you to your body again and help you to learn to love it.  Interested yet?
